Are you in need of inspiration in your teaching ? This day is designed to explore different ways in which teachers can enrich the yoga experience for their students by integrating themes and intentions seamlessly through course plans and lessons.
By the end of the day teachers will have new strategies and plans to introduce themes and intentions in their lessons or to develop their work in this area.
Teachers will experience a range of posture sequences working with different themes and take some of these away on handouts.
Teachers will develop their own ideas working with a pre-determined theme – and share their experience within the group.
Teachers will feel more confident about working with themes an intentions in their own classes.

Come and join us on this explorative day, where we will be using sound, breath and colour in our practice to open up the possibility of experiencing a deeper level of our being. The programme will include asana, pranayama, meditation and yoga nidra.
The focus of the day will be on practice and personal experience rather than on theory. There will however be time for discussion and for questions and answers.
From an early age Nick Edge experienced a passionate longing for answers to the big questions in life. Nick has been a student of Swami Satvikananda and Swami Vedantananda. While he was a resident in the Mandala Yoga Ashram, he found that his contemplative nature and teaching experience progressively deepen considerably under the close guidance of Swami Nishchalananda.

This workshop is aimed anyone who is interested in and curious about the energy dimension and wants to explore more for their own development and/or for professional teaching.
Lina gained her Teaching Diploma through the BWY in 2002 and, after a further two years of training, was awarded her Diploma Course Tutor licence in 2005. Having been brought up in a Tantra/Vedanta Hindu Brahmin family and ethnic background, she is able to bring to her teaching a depth and richness of Yoga experience which only such a cultural and philosophical heritage can provide. Lina successfully integrates her learning from Western scientific and humanistic perspectives with her understanding of an Eastern belief system that has underpinned a Yogic approach to everyday living for millennia.
Previously a professional Electrical Engineer for almost 10 years, she is able to utilise her knowledge and experiences from the energy distribution industry in her research and development of ideas relating to human energy. In particular, anxiety experience and management, the Chakric energetic system and related concepts and applications (including the use of sound as a means of energy re-alignment and balancing) have fascinated Lina for many years

The more we are disturbed, the more our energy is scattered. Disturbances in our energy can originate from or affect any level of our existence, and for many reasons we may not see them or we may choose to ignore them. If we do see, then we only observe their affect and often don’t know what to do; perhaps we cannot direct our energy because there something inside that is stopping us. One interesting definition of ‘yogi’ is ‘one whose energy is within the body’. Here we see energy is an expression of something more than just the body and we use the practices of the tools of yoga to bring the maximum of energy inside so we can live our lives to the fullest.
This workshop will give signposts clearly pointing in a direction most often surrounded by metaphor in teachings. The ability to contain and direct energy only becomes apparent when guided through experiences and then with continued practice. The morning will lay a foundation, beginning physically, and then broken into further practice, workshop, question and answer. The afternoon will build on the work we do in the morning, incorporating a number of yoga’s more subtle tools.
Colin Dunsmuir is a practitioner of Yoga based in South West London who is known for his experience, knowledge, caring and passion. He represents the fullness of the lineage of Professor T. Krishnamacharya through the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation (KHYF) as a Yoga Teacher Trainer and has completed four years of Yoga Therapy Training under the direct tutelage of both TKV Desikachar and his son Kausthub Desikachar. As such he has spent considerable time practicing and studying at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India. Colin is also a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma Course Tutor. Besides contributing to both Yoga Teacher and Therapy trainings, mentoring existing Yoga Teachers and teaching at specific workshops, Colin has considerable focus and experience of Yoga as both an evolutionary practice and also as a therapy. He also supports this with ongoing study of ayur-veda in the same tradition.

By heightening our awareness of our movement, breathing and posture, the Feldenkrais Method® brings us closer to realising our full human potential. Bringing this into our lives, we learn to move more freely, with greater ease, flexibility and grace. The Feldenkrais Method® can permanently improve our posture, balance and coordination, awakening our innate capacity for life-long vitality and continuing self-development. It is a unique and practical way to realise our potential. It can give relief from tension and muscular pain, easier and fuller breathing, greater relaxation and well-being, improved performance in sport, the performance arts, yoga, martial arts and greater ease in everyday activities. In this workshop we will explore unusual and surprising ways how to come into sitting and how to maintain sitting positions easily. We will use some Feldenkrais movements to facilitate yoga sitting postures and look at the relationship between the two.

It is a day suited to those who wish to understand anatomy theory in great depth and some posture work will be interspersed through the days to illustrate the theory and consolidate understanding.
Gary is a well known highly respected teacher of Yoga. He has lectured extensively on the anatomy of Yoga in the UK, Europe and America. He is the founder of the Natural Bodies Centre in Brighton, dedicated to the work and approach of Vanda Scaravelli which was not so much about executing postures but cultivating the conditions that allow the body’s natural intelligence to awaken.
