BWY South East Region

The South East Region committee members are dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, democratically voted into office, who organise local events, provide information and promote the British Wheel of Yoga and yoga generally to existing members and the public at a local level.

Regional Officer provides the link between our committee, Central Office, and the BWY National Executive. He brings information from the BWY Executive to the attention of the regional committee for onward dissemination through the County Reps to our members. He also chairs the Committee meetings.

Treasurer looks after the region's finances and provides up to date information on our income and expenditure, ensuring that our events continue to bring money to the region as a whole.

Regional Training Officer takes care of all the administration required for teachers’ CPD (previously In-Service Training) and ensures that the rest of the committee is kept up to date with changes to programmes made by NISTO (National In-Service Training Officer).

Marketing Officer is responsible for raising the profile of BWY and yoga generally in the region, maximising membership, and issuing teachers with leaflets to encourage their own students to become members and to attend events. He is also responsible for seeking advertising revenue for the Newsletter and following up ‘lapsed’ memberships.

Regional Newsletter Editor is responsible for publicising events well in advance, publishing interesting and informative articles—ensuring a balance between items for teachers and general membership—and making available any information which is sent from members. Her role is to provide a vehicle for getting yoga information out to the region’s members whilst encouraging discussion and involvement from the membership.

Secretary takes the Minutes at the committee meetings and helps with administration in the region.

County Representatives
County Representatives are responsible for getting information out to the region’s members, encouraging membership growth, organising and running events (CPD for teachers as well as general interest seminars for members), selling BWY goods to make a profit for our region and answering questions raised by members or prospective members. Their role is to ensure that BWY is actively and positively promoted in their county; they are the primary link between members of the public who seek classes/information about yoga and the BWY as the Governing Body for Yoga in the UK.

Deputy County Representatives
Most of the county reps have a deputy or acting deputy whose role is to help with the organisation of their county, contributing ideas, promoting BWY and our regional events.
